Frequently asked questions
When do registrations close?
Please register by 20 September 2026 to ensure your place.
What are the conference hours?
The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Saturday 3rd and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m on Sunday 4th October.
Will there be a conference dinner?
You are warmly invited to attend a vegan potluck dinner, hosted by the Vegan Society of Aotearoa New Zealand, on the evening of Saturday 3rd October. If you are coming from out of town, you may wish to pay a $20.00 contribution in lieu of bringing a pot-luck contribution so the Vegan Society can organise extra kai. Please pay this when you register.
Will there be other associated events?
There will be an optional historical tour of Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) landmarks, beginning at 5 pm on Friday 2 October. We'll post more details about this as these become available.
See also the Facebook event page.
How much is the registration fee?
We suggest a minimum of $130 waged and approximately $85 unwaged or low-waged. This includes meals but does not included accommodation. Please contact us if cost is a barrier to your attendance, and we can discuss options.
What about accommodation?
The venue does not have on-site accommodation, so please make your own arrangements. The conference is in central Auckland very close to Queen Street. Unfortunately we are unable to arrange billets. If you are seeking to stay with other activists, we suggest posting on networks such as the NZAR Facebook page and the AARG 2026 Conference Facebook page.
Is the venue accessible?
The venue is fully accessible and wheelchair-friendly. We plan to appoint an equity officer who will be specifically attending to this important area.
Are meals provided and will these cater to my dietary requirements?
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be supplied on both the Saturday and the Sunday. On Saturday evening, you are warmly invited to attend the Auckland monthly vegan pot-luck, hosted by the Vegan Society of Aotearoa New Zealand. If you are coming from out of town, you may wish to pay a $20.00 contribution in lieu of bringing a pot-luck contribution so the Vegan Society can organise extra kai. Please pay this when you register.
All catering will be vegan. If you have specific allergies or intolerances, please contact us when you register and we will discuss what we can do to meet your needs, though our caterer may not be able to practicably provide for all dietary requirements.
What is your health and safety policy?
We will provide masks and hand sanitiser and we encourage RAT testing before attending. If you are unwell, please stay home!
Can children attend and will childcare be provided?
Please note that this conference is intended for adults only, and some presentations may include content and images of animal abuse that are disturbing and inappropriate for children, especially younger children. If you may need to bring a child with you, please contact us and we can discuss options and whether this is suitable.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide childcare. If this would prevent you attending, please get in touch.
Who are we?
The conference committee are a bunch of long-time animal rights activists who have been involved in a wide range of organising and campaigns over the years and who organised AARG 2025.
